  1. My story from Edgar Allan Poe is The Raven. This story is about a man who recently lost his love and he hears a knock on the door. He goes to check it but no one is there. He believes its just the wind against the window. He goes to the window, he goes to open the window and a raven flies in. When the raven flew into his room. it lands on a statue above the door. The mans first thought was to talk to it. He asks the raven its name. The raven responds "nevermore". The speaker keeps asking the raven more and more questions, but all the raven says is "nevermore". Then the speaker begins to loose his sanity.

  2. Edgar's poem "The Raven" was one of the most interesting poems he has written at the time. It is based around when his wife dies of turberculosis he begins having a drinking problem. Soon after he begins to seem a raven, sitting at the head of his door. Shouting "nevermore" whenever Poe asks or a question or speaks to the animal. He begins to lose all sanity that was left within him. His wifes death was the hardest thing and tragedy that could ever occur to him. I liked the poem because it shoes an element of fear and mystery. Poe's work is definitley my favorite of all poets because you never know what will happen and it leaves you with a sense of confusion. It makes all of his work very, very interesting.

  3. A poem that i enjoyed by Edgar Allen Poe is "Spirits of the Dead". Poe explains his wildly insane view on the afterlife on earth. He notes stages of spirits after death like for example the hour of solitude and silence at a tomb stone is the slowly but depressed acception of ones spirit with life's departure. Once dead, Poe expresses how spirits from the past are united to every spirit that emerges from new or recent deaths. He also expresses his belief on how spirits, nature, and the heavens are connected as if one in a flow like the dew's steady drippings off grass. Edgar views that spirits each have shadowy and mysterious secrets and mingle in that type of surrounding. I enjoyed this poem but i find it very difficult to understand his full interpretations without asking him himself so I just wrote what I have interpreted out of this poem myself. He seems to define the sad and dark times of ones departure of life and all reality is my main interpretation.

  4. The poem that I enjoyed the most by Edgar Allen Poe was "The Raven". It's about how he lost the love of his life. His wife had died at a young age. He started hearing a knock on the door. Every time he would go to look there was nobody there. Then he starts to see a raven at the door. All the raven would say is "nevermore" when he would ask a question. I enjoyed this poem because of the way the poem was told.

When he opened the door nobody was there. Later he heard a louder noise, he thought it was wind on his window so he opened it. When he did a raven flew in and landed on a statue on top of his door. He spoke to the raven and all it could say was "nevermore". The raven represents his loss for his loved one and how he will never get over it. He wants to move on and get some closure, but he can't. One night keeps hearing a tapping sound at his door, so he opened the door and nothing was there. Later throughout the night, the sound gets louder so he opens the window and a raven flies in his house. When he talks to the raven, all it says is "nevermore". The raven represents his grief and his love for Lenore.. 8. The poem that I enjoyed the most from Edgar Allen Poe is "The Raven". This poem is about a guy who has lost the love of his life and he hears a knock on his door. When the man opens the door there is no one there. Then he goes to look out the window, opens it and a raven flies in and sits on the platform above his chamber door. When he asks the raven questions all it replies is "nevermore". The man starts to lose his cool along with his sanity. I think that this poem is resembling Poe and the loss of his wife. I like this poem because it's very mysterious and dark. You also have to figure out what Poe is trying to get through in this poem.

  9. A poem that I enjoyed the most by Edgar Allen Poe is “The Raven.” This poem is about a man who lost a girl named Lenore, who he loved. He hears a knock on the door and when he goes to look who it is, there’s no one there. He later hears a loud, tapping noise, so he goes to open the window and a raven flies in. It lands over his door on the god of wisdom and represents the man’s lost love and grief. When the man questions the raven, but all he says is “nevermore.” I like this poem because of the rhyme scheme and how well it flows. Also, it is mysterious and keeps the readers engaged to the poem.

  10. The poem I chose was "The Raven". The speaker talks about a raven that sat upon the top of his door, and it will not go away. He is grieving because a woman name Lenore has died, and the raven is almost telling the speaker that because he won't leave, his pain from Lenore's death will never cease. He asks the raven a series of questions and its only response is "nevermore". The questions get more personal and it still responds "nevermore". At the end of the poem, the speaker explains that the raven is still sitting there, symbolizing that his grief for Lenore is also still there. The flow of the poem is very nice. It was almost like a song. I really liked this poem a lot because I like the way Poe puts a picture in your mind with his very detailed works.

  11. One of my favorite poems that Poe wrote would have to be “The Raven.” The poem is about a man who is in his bedroom late one night. He is thinking about his wife Lenore who has passed away and he can’t get her off his mind. There is a knocking at his door and the speaker believes it is wife and looks out the door. He finds that nothing is there and then hears it again at the window, he opens it up and little raven flies in and sits at the top of the door. The speaker begins to ask the bird why he is there and the bird replies with a simple “nevermore.” Finally the speaker gets extremely upset about the fact that he will never get passed the thought of his wife’s death. I find this poem interesting because of the rhymes in the poem and darkness in the poem. I like the choice of words Poe chose for this poem it draws you in with a sort of beat to it when you read it.

  12. I liked the poem "Anabelle Lee" by Edgar Allen Poe. This poem is about his grief over the death of his late love, Virginia. He describes as being beautiful and the angels were jealous, so they took up to heaven. Poe saids her "tomb is by the sea", this could be where she is really buried too. I like the way Poe wrote this because it flows nicely, the rhyme scheme is superb.

  13. My poem is "The Raven". The narrator had lost a woman he loved. He is stricken with grief over this lose. Then a raven appears after tapping on his window and flies in and sits on a statue of Athena above his door. He begins to ask the raven questions but the raven only responds with, "Nevemore." As the poem goes on the narrator's questions become more complex. I really enjoyed this poem. I especially liked the rhyme scheme and how the poem is sing songy.

  14. My favorite poem by Edgar Allan Poe is "The Raven". In this poem, the protagonist is a man who is in a state of deep sorrow. He is this way because he has lost his love; a woman named Lenore. In the beginning of the poem, he hears a rappin' and a tappin' on the door and goes to open it, but sees nobody there. Then he hears it at the window and opens it, and a raven flies in and sits on a bust of Pallas. The narrator repeatedly asks the raven questions, and in turn, the raven always replies with a simple "Nevermore". Soon enough the narrator breaks down and start telling the raven to leave. I was drawn into this story because of the rythym with which it was written, and the general idea behind it that he will always suffer pain when he remembers Lenore.

  16. One poem by Poe is "The Raven". It's about a man who lost his love, her name was Lenore. He kept hearing knocking on his door and window. He didn't see anything though. Finally, a raven shows up. The man asked it questions and it doesn't really say anything. It ends up saying "nevermore" after everything. The man asked if he'll get over the loss of Lenore and the raven answered with "nevermore". In the end, the raven never leaves. The raven symbolizes the man's grief and love for Lenore. I actually enjoyed this peom, I didn't find it confusing at all.

  17. I enjoyed the poem "The Masque of the Red Death" written by Edgar Allan Poe. I thought while I was reading this that it was kind of freaky. The story was about Prince Prospero starting a masque (a party) to stay away from getting the horrible sickness. I thought it was very interesting because they moved from room to room that were each different colors. The people at the party tended to avoid the black room with red windows because they believed that that room represented death. It creeped them out and they stayed away from it. In this story the color red represented death. I felt dark and mysterious while I read this. It caught my attention by the way you had to keep reading to find out what mysterious thing was going to happen next. I like how there was a story behind it. I was confused at first but after reading, it made sense to me and made me really enjoy this work of writing.

The Poem "Alone" talks about being alone. It can relate to any situation. I think he is talking about his childhood and how he is alone through it being adoped in all. When he loves he loves alone i think this means that when he loves no one loves hime back. i think this relates to any situation. This is truely an awsome peom to read the only thing i didnt understand was the last two lines "When the rest of Heaven was blue
Of a demon in my view."

  19. The poem i read is "The Bells".The Bells talks about how diffrent bells mean diffrent things even thougg they are all bells. It gives three diffrent bells and exolains how people feel about them. I enjoyed this poem a lot more than I was expecting. I liked how the poem had the sane rhyme scheme in each verse but it still felt diffrent. I did think it was intresting how Poe came up with the idea that bells can express doffrent emotions just by the sound they make

It's a brilliant poem, a little confusing with the bible reference, also also the connation of some sentences. I really appreciate the rhythm he set up. It just beats as you go along. I really liked the poem.

  21. The poem i read is "The Bells".The Bells talks about how diffrent bells mean diffrent things even thougg they are all bells. It gives three diffrent bells and exolains how people feel about them. It talks about how church bells have diffrent meaning then wedding bells and wedding bells are diffrent than toll bells. I enjoyed this poem a lot more than I was expecting. I liked how the poem had the sane rhyme scheme in each verse but it still felt diffrent. I did think it was intresting how Poe came up with the idea that bells can express diffrent emotions just by the sound they make. This poem. did make me think that just because the church bells sound like a particular sound doesnt mean it has tp be. It is just because we associate that sound with bells is the reason why we think of them as happyness

  22. The poem I read from Edgar Allen Poe was "The Raven." The main character of the poem lost his wife Lenore and is still haunted by her memory. There is a Raven that sits upon a statue above his door and the only thing it says is "Nevermore." The Raven never leaves. I think it's a good poem because the Raven is like a symbol of love for Lenore. Overall, it was pretty easy to understand.

  24. One of my favorite poems by Edgar Allen Poe is "The Raven". The poem starts with talk of the speaker hearing a tapping at his door. However, when he opens the door there is no one there. Then he hears the tapping again, opens the door and sees a raven/ The speaker asks the raven multiple questions, and the raven replies "nevermore" to every one. The speaker is having a hard time getting over the loss of his love. I really liked this poem. I did think it was a little difficult to understand but it wasn't terribly hard to interpret.
